Cherry Burl & Butternut

5" tall x 8.5" wide

Finished with friction polish wax

Cherry from Marietta, GA. Butternut believed from Tennessee.

A burl forms on a tree because of stress from injury, fungus, a virus, or insects.

On the outside it's simply a knobby-looking growth, but on the inside it creates intense grain patterns, making it some of sought-after material for woodworking.
